Barry S. Porter
Mr. Porter has over 30 years experience in both the Public and Private Sector. During his career he has planned, permitted and managed the development process for retail, commercial, industrial and residential projects in 15 states. In 2001 he formed Barry S. Porter & Associates, Inc. to provide clients with a “partner” in the permitting process, not just a consultant. In this role he managed the conversion of over 20 retail stores left vacant due to bankruptcy to new retail uses, many going from application to grand opening in one year. Currently BSPA is providing site development consulting services to a major retailer for over 50 locations in the Northeast. A certified planner with the member of the American Planning Association, Mr. Porter is a member of the American Planning Association (APA) and the International Council of Shopping Centers. He is a former Chair of the APA Divisions Council and served on both the National APA Board of Directors and the Chapter Board. He has been speaker at a number of national and regional planning conferences and has provided testimony to numerous local Boards and Commissions on behalf of his clients.
Tara Calabrese, AICP, Vice President
Ms. Calabrese, a real estate professional for more than 15 years, is a licensed Construction Supervisor and Real Estate Broker. She presently manages the entitlement process, permitting and construction oversight for greater than 1.2 million square feet of retail development in New England. Ms. Calabrese is a certified planner with the American Institute of Certified Planners.
John W. Merchant
John W. Merchant has over 25 years experience in the real estate industry. John has owned a real estate company that specializes in retail and industrial real estate development and management. John has extensive experience in site plan development, site plan approval, project financing and construction of real estate properties. Projects have ranged from small 10,000 square foot building sites to large 300,000 square foot neighborhood shopping centers.
Larae Tucker
Larae Tucker is a Senior Project Manager in BSPA's Dallas (Ennis), TX office. Her primary responsibility is managing the conversion of abandoned retail space for re-use as by a national electronics retailer. Prior to joining BSPA, Ms. Tucker worked for a National architectural firm where she was responsible for coordinating the permit process for a major national retailer throughout the United States.
Kathleen Drea
Ms. Drea, a graduate of Regis College, has over 7 years experience in project management. She presently manages the entitlement process, permitting and construction oversight for multiple supermarket projects in the Mid-Atlantic States and the District of Columbia. Ms. Drea is a member of the American Planning Association and the International Council of Shopping Centers.
Anthony Scarpa
Anthony Scarpa has over 15 years experience in construction and construction supervision in the public and private sectors. As a Permit Manager he is responsible for securing Building Permits and maintaining the construction schedule through the issuance of the Certificate of Occupancy. Mr. Scarpa is a licensed Construction Supervisor in Massachusetts.
